THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLES ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY. ALWAYS INQUIRE ABOUT MENU ITEMS CONTAINING GLUTEN AND ALLERGENS WITH THE RESTAURANT STAFF PRIOR TO ORDERING.
The following establishments provide a lot use useful information and options for patrons with food sensitivities:**
Bareburger is my new personal, fast-food favorite due to their extensive allergen chart (ask in house, it's not online), organic options, & super-tasty food. Super easy to create a bunless burger with awesome toppings.
Chipotle Mexican Grill is great because their menu has many options and an easy to read allergy-chart. Just be aware that cross contamination can be an issue (due to how the prep counter is set up).
Jason's Deli has a bunch of options listed in their Special Diets Wizard. The Wizard only allows you to add 8 allergens, so check off gluten (instead of wheat), soy, egg, milk, peanut, tree nuts, fish & shellfish, and it'll show you all the gluten & allergen free options.
Red Robin also offers an Interactive Allergen Menu for easy ordering.
Ruby Tuesday's has an online Interactive Allergy Menu (that includes gluten). You'll need to plug in your zip code to access the app, but there seemed to be quite a few options at my local restaurant.
Smashburger has an awesome Interactive Allergen Menu that makes it easy to order something safe.
The following restaurants have limited options for patrons with food sensitivities (you'll need to inquire more about ingredients):**
Applebee's has a few options listed on their menu.
Au Bon Pain has a few options based on their handy online ingredient checker to the left of the menu.
Carrabba's Italian Grill has a gluten-free menu but top 8 allergens aren't disclosed online. It’s worth mentioning that while on vacation, I was able to order steamed green beans (instead of pasta) with marinara sauce on top — which was safe and surprisingly good.
Charlie Brown's Fresh Grill has a gluten free menu, but you would need to inquire about the top 8 allergens.
Chili's offers individual allergen information. They may have gluten and top eight free options, but you would need to cross-reference each list.
Five Guys Burgers & Fries has a few options listed on their menu as well.
Houlihan's has a gluten-free menu but no allergens listed. Looking at the GF menu, it seems like they would have a few options but you would need to inquire about ingredients.
Longhorn Steakhouse has an allergen menu, but the options are very limited (but you're in luck if you'd like pork chops and a plain baked potato with bacon sprinkled on top!).
Noodles and Company has a few options, although cross-contamination of gluten-containing ingredients may be an issue.
Olive Garden has separate allergy and gluten free menus. From what I can tell, the Italian Sausage, tomato sauce and steamed broccoli are free of the major allergens — but you would need to ask if those items are gluten free as well (since it’s not disclosed on the website).
Outback Steakhouse has a gluten-free menu posted online, but not allergens.
Panera Bread calls out the top 8 allergens as you scroll through their menu, but then you need to cross-check with their gluten-free menu. It's not the easiest site to navigate and gets a little confusing.
P.F. Chang's has extensive allergen and gluten-free menus; however, it looks like the only gluten & allergen free choice at the moment is GF Buddha's feast (without tofu) and your choice of gluten free white or brown rice.
Popeyes has one option: Naked Tenders with Sweet Heat Sauce and jalepenos.
Shake Shack has a good allergy menu but little options. But it seems you could order a burger patty on a gluten-free bun and be allergen free. Possibly.
TGI Fridays has a clearly labeled allergen menu, but unfortunately there are no gluten & allergen free options at this time.
