An 8SAFE Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving brings up childhood memories of all the classics: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, mom’s candied yams, pumpkin pie with whipped cream. It was sheer gluttony and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I didn’t have food sensitivities back then so nothing was off limits.
Ahhhh, what bliss…
Now, as an adult with multiple food sensitivities, the holiday can be bittersweet. I still love the gathering of family and friends, but man can it be challenging to be around so much incredible food. Steeped in tradition and recipes that’ve been passed down the generations, it can seem as though every dish is off limits, even though every cell of my being wants to devour everything in sight. Needless to say, my willpower gets quite the workout.
So it would be like a dream for me to sit down at the feast I’ve outlined below. The only thing missing for me is traditional stuffing, which I’ve been working on but haven’t quite perfected yet. But I promise to add it soon!
